Grown in the highlands of Southern Ethiopia at 1,700 metres above sea level, Sidamo carries a Designation of Origin - one of only three trademarked coffee regions in Ethiopia, alongside Harrar and Yirgacheffe. The altitude, rainfall, and soil here produce something unhurried and complex. A coffee that knows when to speak and when to wait.

This is a washed Sidamo - full-bodied, floral, and low in acidity. The finish is bright and gentle. Nothing sharp. Nothing that fights. Everything that settles alongside smoke the way it should.

Yohanes Ageze tends a four-hectare farm in Idido, one of the most celebrated villages in Yirgacheffe - the region widely considered the spiritual home of coffee. His family handpicks only the ripest red cherries, sorts them by hand, and lays them on raised beds to dry slowly over 14 days. No chemical fertilisers. No shortcuts. Just the land, the fruit, and time.

The result is a naturally processed coffee with a clean, fruit-led sweetness and a soft floral character. Bright without being sharp. Complex without demanding your attention. A cup that rewards you whether it is your first of the morning or your third of the afternoon.

There is a particular kind of silence that arrives after the first draw. The cigar is lit. The room has settled. Whatever was urgent ten minutes ago is no longer. This is the moment Custos was made for.

Coffee and the Habano have shared a history longer than most people realise. In the tobacco regions of Cuba and across the gentlemen's clubs of Europe, the two were never treated as separate pleasures — they were understood as a single ritual with two components. The tobacco opens the palate. The coffee anchors it. Together, they extend the moment rather than end it.

Custos does not try to compete with the cigar. It arrives quietly and holds its place beside one of the most considered experiences a person can have. That is the standard we work to.

KD is the founder behind KD Leaf Diaries, a Cuban cigar collector and storyteller with nearly two decades spent studying Habanos, regional editions, ageing, flavour, and the culture that surrounds the cigar ritual.

Custos Coffee comes from that same discipline. It is not coffee for every moment. It is coffee shaped for the hour after a long meal, when the cigar is lit, the conversation slows, and the pairing matters.
